Commenting on why the appliance received the accreditation, Poppy Elliot, Founder & CEO of Quiet Mark, said: “The Sunbeam Cafe Series® KE9600 kettle is the first product in Australia to be awarded the Quiet Mark because it came under the average decibel level of 58 dB and was deemed by the jury of listeners to have a ‘pleasant and non-intrusive’ sound quality. We reviewed a market sample of kettles and the Sunbeam Cafe Series was among the quieter models tested.”
The Quiet Mark is a trading arm of a UK organization called the Noise Abatement Society which has been around for over 50 years and whose remit is to raise awareness of, and find solutions to, noise pollution.
“Quiet Mark sprang from the response to public complaints received by the Noise Abatement Society’s 24/7 national noise help-line, concerning the volume of excessive noise made by household tools and appliances. Since launching in January 2012, Quiet Mark has significantly changed the way people and manufacturers view products and we have helped to create a demand for the use of quieter technology in homes, in the workplace and in the open air,” said Poppy.
Commenting on the accreditation, John Turnbull, General Manager Marketing, Sunbeam, said: “We are delighted to be the first brand in Australia to receive such an accolade for one of our appliances. Innovation and the consumer are always in our mind when designing appliances at Sunbeam. When choosing appliances, there’s no doubt that looks matter, but consumers are also giving thought to how noisy their appliances are and at Sunbeam we can now proudly say we have designed one of the quietest kettle in Australia.”
The Sunbeam Cafe Series® Variable Temperature Kettle (KE9600, $129) features five temperature settings for brewing different types of tea and coffee. It has an LCD screen which shows you how long until your selected temperature is reached and it will also maintain that temperature for up to 20 minutes.
