Sunbeam, Australia's leading brand of small appliances, has been awarded a prestigious Australian International Design Award for its Cafe Series® EM7000 Espresso Machine.

It is the only manual espresso machine currently available on the market to carry such an accolade.

Commenting on the award, John Turnbull, Sunbeam General Manager, Marketing, said: "Fresh from a successful weekend at the Melbourne International Coffee Expo which saw the EM7000 go down a storm with everyone from consumers to coffee roasters, we are delighted it has been further honoured with this prestigious award. The award is evidence and recognition of Sunbeam's commitment to developing coffee machines that deliver café quality espresso at home."

Launched in 2012 and designed and engineered in Australia by Sunbeam, the EM7000 Cafe Series® Espresso Machine upgrades the groundbreaking EM6910, which redefined the market, pioneering commercial quality Espresso targeted to domestic consumers. The winning appliance features a brass collar, ergonomic sloping handle, a PID controlled twin thermoblock heating system and a unique patent pending temperature sensing steam wand which allows consumers to intuitively texture milk to their preferred temperature.

A total of 29 domestic appliances competed to be named Best in Category at the awards ceremony widely regarded as the Australian design industry's night of nights. The Australian International Design Awards are held annually and play host to more than 600 designers, product manufacturers, media, government officials and VIPs, students and emerging design talent.
