The SecretChef is designed as a Frypan and Slow Cooker in one, that sears and slow cooks in the one unit, no need to have separate pans, or to use the stovetop. Use as a Frypan or as a Slow Cooker, or if you're slow cooking, you can use both modes. It's handy when slow cooking, as you can brown your meats on the Frypan mode, then switch to Slow Cook mode for the remainder. It's so versatile you can create roast dinners, mouth-watering soups and desserts to hearty slow cooked casseroles and curries. Even sear a juicy steak or make bacon and eggs. Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP8555 slow cooker I have been a huge fan of slow cooking for many years, the only problem for me was you had to brown the meat in a fry pan transfer it to the slow cooker once cooked back into a pan to reduce the jus or add corn flour to thicken. I was so excited when I read about the HP8555 . I have been using it for some time and can only say this has to be one of the best products I have ever purchased, it browns, cooks and reduces all in the same pan .All the recipes I have tried have been cooked to perfection The insert is so easy to clean and light weight. I would highly recommend this product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant features, easy to use, highly recommend Does everything you expect and does it well. Very light inner tray, much easier to use than ceramic tray. I've cooked lasagna sauces, searing the mince, the slow cooking the mince for four hours, perfecto. I've used it to warm BBQ chickens that has been left in fridge for a day, great for an easy meal. Made soup, everything is easy and it is so light to lift. Varying temps and a browning function and adjustable time, nothing is wanting. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Value for Money I bought mine a few months ago at RRP$199 but HN price matched a competitor at $149. I have never owned a SC prior as I am not a huge meat or casserole person myself. However I bought it for Meat which my OH loves. I've done lasagna, potato bake, quiches and fudge so far for myself - I didn't realise how much this machine can do! I love the design, keeps warm once cooked as well as the digital countdown and time adjustment is great. So easy to pull out and wipe clean afterwards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delivers My Sear and Slow Cooker is great, I have used it several times since I bought it and I'm impressed with the sear capability as well as the slow cooking. The large capacity is just right for feeding a large family, or cooking two meals for very little effort. This is my new best friend in the kitchen and as the winter sports season approaches I foresee that it will become an invaluable tool for feeding my family healthy meals around our busy lives.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish looking, great features Brought this over a month ago, the feature to be able to sear/brown in the slow cooker inner dish is a real time saver, also leaves all the lovely juices in for added flavor. Less washing up is also a bonus. Easy to use and lovely looking appliance. Inner dish can go straight to the table to serve from. I high recommend this slow cooker

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product! I have only had this product for a few weeks, but love its flexibility between frying pan and slow cooker, and have lost count of how many times I have used it so far. Highly recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product but I hope spares are available We have had this unit for approximately 18 months now and have cooked with this unit many times, however the non stick coating on the insert is starting to bubble. Is this available as a spare part? Also, we do not cook on high and only cook on low as high is too hot :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Slow Cooker Every! I purchased my Secretchef well over a year ago and it quickly became my favourite kitchen appliance. I have been slow cooking for years, but like many people found that the preparation required (i.e separate pots for browning and reducing) messy and time consuming. I am a food blogger and also admin a slow cooking recipe group on social media, so purchasing the right cooker for my needs was very important – I create and share lots of slow cooker recipes and these need to be tested in a reliable appliance. The searing/browning options and timer functions attracted me to this product and I have not been disappointed. After a year of constant use my non-stick pot is just as non-stick with no pitting or loss of coating. I don’t have a dishwasher, so my pot has only ever been hand washed in hot soapy water and I care for it as I would any other non-stick product (I only use plastic utensils, no abrasive cleaners or clothes, and avoid soaking etc). I don’t slow cook just so I can set and forget (although that is an added bonus for busy cooks), I slow cook for flavour and texture so I love that I can sear my meat, slow cook, then reduce the liquid all in the one pot. My sauces are tastier as I can reduce to thicken and intensify the flavours instead of adding lots of cornflour to my meals. The 5.5l rectangle insert fits a large roast chicken or joint of meat perfectly. It’s a great size for cooking for a family or batch cooking, with plenty of left overs. I have not found my cooker to cook too hot on low and wonder if those who have this problem have upgraded from much older slow cooker models that cook at much lower temperatures than modern cookers? Also when browning/searing ingredients cooking times will reduce slightly as the cooker is already warm, and the cooking process of the ingredients has already started. This takes some adjustment if you are new to browning meat or frying off your onions before slow cooking. I have cooked the Duck Ragu, Greek Lamb, Spiced Breakfast Fruit and Choc-Cherry Pudding from the user manual recipes. They were all tasty and the recipes easy to follow. Although, I have found that the cooking times in the user manual can be a bit over stated. For example a whole large chicken (2kg) takes approximately 4 hours on low, not 8 as suggested in the manual. A large leg of lamb cooks in 6-7 hrs on low and silverside 8-10 hrs on low. These times are consistent with other slow cookers that I have used in the past.
