Hints & Tips

What can i do with the leftover fruit pulp?

Leftover pump can be used as compost in the garden and pulp from certain vegetable, such as carrots, can be used in baking or feeding pets such a rabbits.

How long can i keep my juice for?

Due to the process used by the juice extractor, the nutrients in the juice start breaking down almost immediately. The means fresh juice is best consumed immediately after juicing. After this time you may experience discolouring or separation of the juice.

Can i juice bananas?

Bananas can be hard to juice but the taste goes a long way. When juicing a blend of fruit with banana, add the banana as either the first or second piece of fruit. The nectar of the banana will sit inside the filtering basket and as the remaining fruits are added into the juice extractor they will release the banana nectar throughout the rest of the juice resulting in a frothy flavoursome juice.

How do i prepare fruit and vegetables for juicing?

As a general rule only put into the juicer what you would consumer. For example skins from oranges, kiwi fruits, grapefruits and large stones from mangoes, peaches etc must be removed. Not only will they affect the taste of your juice but they may also damage the juicer. Depending on the size of your fruit, you may also need to chop your fruit into halves or quarters to fit into the juicer chute.

Can i juice herbs?

Yes you can juice herbs. We recommend adding herbs in between the fruit and vegetables to get the most out of the herb. If only using a small quantity, add the herb at the same time as a piece of fruit or vegetable.

Does it matter what order i juice ingredients in?

When juicing different fruits and vegetables it may help to juice in different combinations. For example, when juicing apples and oranges, juice the soft fruit (oranges) first, then follow with the hard fruit (apples) second. This will help you achieve the maximum juice extraction from the fruit and vegetables.

Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still working 30 years later My mother used this juicer when I was a kid. Im make juices for my kids with it 30 years later. Easy to dismantle, rinsed clean if you rinse straight away and don't allow pulps to sit. Very happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Compact, efficient, easy to take apart to clean. I owned a Sunbeam juicer from the 80's, so I was thrilled to find this model in Salvation army charity shop...what a steal! it is neat and tidy, works brilliantly and ideal for two people. Easy to use, easy to clean...and previous owner had looked after it well so you have two very satisfied customers. Well done, Sunbeam.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap and do the work as an expensive one I bought the unit 2 years ago and have enjoy it so far. I was unsure of buying it or go to another one more expensive, because of the reviews, but I gave it a go. Good decision! Easy to use, cheap, many healthy juices done and still going. The only thing down is the cord... we couldn't find out how to use the cord storage (?)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from An utter dud. This juicer is dreadful. It has appalling design flaws and really should not be on the market. Especially at the premium price I paid at Big W, Atherton Q 4883 on the 22/07/015 1. The pulp container slides out of its own accord and there is no mechanism to secure it in place. Huge mess. a. A 'lip' that tucked under the lid would prevent that. b A 'lip' would also prevent the pulp from egressing through the gap between the lid and the pulp container. c Pulp gets caught in the lid meaning that it dosent get into the pulp container. 2. The juice catcher cup [clear plastic] is: a. Not big enough b. And cannot be secured to the juicer 3. The juice collector outlet should be positioned above a 'well' to catch the extra juice that inevitably runs out after the catcher is removed. 4. The juice collector egresses juice through the the aperture of the drive shaft. 5. The stainless steel grating and filtering basket: a. A brush should be provided to clean this. Its not. b. A cycle in the dishwasher does not clean it either. The only positive that I have for it is that it makes juice. Big deal. I can squeeze juice by hand and make far less mess than this. Any time that might be saved by using this unit for creating volume is immediately negated by the fact that the clean up time after juicing is twice as long! Rating out of 5 stars? 1/2 = half a star.
