The types of coffee machines
Manual: For people who like control over their coffee-making, the coffee grounds are loaded by hand into a cup-shaped filter. Capsule: Easy to use and mess-free, simply insert the sealed capsule (""pod"") of pre-ground, pre-measured coffee. Automatic/Semi-automatic: Decide what you want your coffee machine to do for you. Some models perform tasks at the push of a button, including cleaning the machine. They also offer a range of pre-sets for one, two or three shots of espresso at the push of a button.
Grinding the coffee beans
Some coffee machines have a built-in coffee bean grinder, which can be adjusted for coarse, medium, fine or extra-fine granules. Coffee grinders come in three types: Wheel burr grinders: The beans are crushed between two wheels, one spinning very fast and the other stationary. These can be noisy. Conical burr grinders: A metal cone at the base rotates against another surface at the top. These spin more slowly, tend to clog less and are quieter. Blade grinders: Beans are sliced finely using a blade. These may grind beans unevenly and leave coffee with a slight burnt taste if ground too long. If the espresso maker doesn't have an in-built coffee grinder, you'll need to buy a standalone one or use pre-ground coffee instead.
What is a thermoblock?
This is the internal component of a coffee maker that heats water to the optimum temperature range for making coffee (between 85°C and 96°C). For good flavour it's important that you don't scald the coffee. Machines with twin thermoblocks make coffee quicker because they heat the water for the coffee and create steam for frothing the milk at the same time.

Fantastic Starter Machine
I bought my machine just over two years ago, as a novice (I'd used a pod machine or and old fashioned style dripulator in the past), this is a fantastic starter machine to learn how to make proper coffee on.
The main reason I bought this machine was knowing it was future proof, there is always going to be ground coffee available, who knows how long pods will be arrived for (plus the environmental waste of pods makes me cringe).
It took me a little while to work out the froth wand, but once I had the hang of it, I'm very happy with the resulting latte.

Makes better coffee than a Nespresso!
Since my Nespresso gave problems and was too expensive to repair we decided to invest in something different. Well we were pleasantly surprised. This machine makes real barista style coffee. A little more effort, but a lot more taste.

Disappointing
I bought this machine on 22 October 2015 and used it approx. twice a day (two coffees/day). The coffee was easy to make, the machine was easy to clean, but started to leak; leaving a puddle of water under the unit after each use. On January 5 I heard a 'pop' sound, and now it doesn't work at all. It lasted just over 2 months. Disappointing! More disappointing that Harvey Norman continues to buy in stock when staff are well aware of the issues and that there is a high return rate.

Very disappointing
While this model made excellent coffee while it lasted, it did only last for less than a year, which even at the price I paid for it was very disappointing-subsequent research and reviews listed here refer to the same problem of a very short shelf life for this particular machine and problems with its head mechanism in particular. It made not have burnt my coffee, but Sunbeam have definitely burnt me with this product, wouldn't recommend this machine unfortunately.

Not as well made as the previous model
I got this to replace my previous model that was fine for over 6 years but had become seriously incontinent. Unfortunately, after only a year and a bit of making maybe 2-3 cups of black a week, this one is now leaking from the head. A new seal did not fix the problem so it's probably the group collar getting worn out, already! Its back to the plunger as I can't be bothered with another machine and hate the idea of capsules. I also know of another Sunbeam (a "better" model) that also has leaks and pressure problems.

Great product for the price!
I use my machine twice a day and it makes great latte's....cannot see why I should pay more for a machine when this one does it all perfectly fine!

Not as reliable as previous model
Went for another Sunbeam after my first one lasted 10 yrs - with a few minor repairs along the way but inexpensive and made coffee the way I like it. I replaced it with new version Sunbeam but after only 2 yrs leaks at the back and from the head and drips and spits all over the place. Going to try something different this time.
